We are born with a Core Self that expects to be met with love, nurturance, and unconditional acceptance. But when the world we meet is traumatizing, when those expectations are dashed, we respond by tragically disavowing our Core Self, creating a Wounded Self built upon false beliefs about the worth of the self and its place in the world.
Core Self Reclamation Therapy (CSRT) is a relationally bold new clinical model of psychotherapy devoted to undoing the structure of the Wounded Self so that the Core Self can be reclaimed. The CSRT Therapist targets the entrenched defenses and toxic shame states created by distorted mirroring and other traumatic experience, standing in on behalf of the patient’s Core Self to guide our patients back to their birthright of love.
In this workshop, we will explore how to enhance and accelerate healing through specific interventions that target the deepest intrapsychic wounds. The conference will include didactic as well as live videos to describe and illustrate the model. There will be opportunities for Q&A throughout.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Summarize the importance of the Tripartite Self in CSRT: Distinguishing between Core Self, Wounded Self and Present-Day Self.
- Explain the significance of the Core Self and its integral role in CSRT.
- Describe how the Wounded Self forms in the wake of trauma.
- Distinguish between Internal Laws and Core Erroneous Beliefs.
- Apply concepts from CSRT such as how Parts Work plays in healing complex trauma.
- Describe the importance of empowering the Present-Day Self to embrace the role of new internal caregiver for the child parts in need of healing.
