~The ICP+P Psychoanalytic Training Program is pleased to announce a new study group for individuals who are considering joining a first year class scheduled to begin September 2018. The study group will be a place to explore your interest in training and to learn more about our psychoanalytic training program. In the study group, psychoanalytic papers will be distributed electronically in advance and will then be discussed in the study group sessions. Engagement with reading and discussion in these sessions will provide participants with a firsthand sense of the ICP+P psychoanalytic training experience.
Psychoanalytic training at ICP+P involves an intensive learning experience fostering each candidate’s development as a contemporary psychoanalyst. Our educational milieu encourages open dialogue, self-discovery, critical thinking, clinical integration and scholarship. Through the powerful interplay of a course of study, clinical practice, supervision, and a personal analysis, candidates build capacities to create growth-promoting analytic relationships. In the training, we communicate a sense of the excitement, creativity, and diversity that exists within contemporary psychoanalysis and facilitate a process of discovery as candidates forge their analytic identities.
The dates of the Psychoanalytic Study Group are: September 24, 2017, October 29, 2017, December 3, 2017, January 21, 2018, March 18, 2018, and April 15, 2018. You can join the group at any time throughout the 2017-2018 year. The sessions will be held at the ICP+P office from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. In order to register, contact Elizabeth Carr O 202-822-8371, M 202-246-7529, or elizabethmcarr.msn@gmail.com.
